- Hi,
-
- I just went through some hassle installing 3.1 roms into my rev. 9
- mb A3000. The instructions I received told me that I must put
- the rom labeled "rom 1" into the socket labeled U181 (with a silk
- screened rom 0). Well after much frustration the fine fellows at
- WENTEK Computers, Scottsdale AZ helped me for free.
-
- The roms had to go in the opposite of the way the written instructions
- detailed. Apparently the silk screening on the mb may or may not be
- correct, in my case it was. The rom 0 wound up in U180 and rom 1 in U181.
- Why did it take me so long to find this out? I kept trying to test the
- the system with the daughterboard out. The 3000 needs the roms in and
- the daughterboard connected as a minimum in order to boot. In addition,
- if you don't connect a floppy it will take a few minutes as it searches
- all the scsi addresses looking for something to boot from. This delay may
- cause one to believe that the 3000 is not booting but if you're patient
- you will eventually get the familiar WB screen.
-
- I hope this info is of some use to other frustrated A3000 upgraders.
